PCME is an accredited provider specializing in innovative continuing medical education solutions.
Despite the advances in acute and chronic treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients, there is still considerable uncertainty among pharmacists about the relative benefit of various antiplatelet agents in protecting against ischemic complications from ACS and PCI. Understanding the subtle differences between available and emerging agents for preventing thrombotic events, including their relative risks for bleeding complications, is essential to improve the management of ACS patients.
This program will examine the importance of acute and long-term antiplatelet therapy to protect UA/NSTEMI patients against thrombotic events. Health-system pharmacists will gain insights into preferred clinical practices based on established treatment guidelines; pivotal evidence-based clinical trial results; and recommended dosings and length of treatment for the various antiplatelet agents.
