Control Asthma Now: Pharmacologic Strategies to Improve Asthma Control
Release Date: June 26, 2009         Expiration Date: June 26, 2010

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Recent guidelines have shifted the focus in asthma management from asthma severity to asthma control, and physicians should understand the difference between these terms and know how to apply them in practice. The asthma guidelines provide a framework for the assessment and management of patients with asthma. Appropriate patient management can reduce the occurrence of exacerbations and help patients maintain good asthma control, thereby improving outcomes.

This practical, interactive educational series is composed of three elements. A 4-part, case-based CME podcast series highlights the practical issues surrounding asthma control, and explores how to achieve this control in four "real-life" patient case scenarios. An 8-page online monograph supports the case-based podcast series by taking an in-depth look at monitoring asthma control, as well as managing asthma patients according to the latest guideline recommendations. Additional supplemental materials are also available to assist physicians in the practical use of the guidelines and management of their asthma patients.
