Carrie Tompkins Stricker, PhD, RN, AOCN, is an Oncology Nurse Practitioner at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, where she has both clinical and teaching responsibilities in the Rena Rowan Breast Center and as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She has been funded by the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program and the American Cancer Society for her research focused on symptoms and function in breast cancer survivors. She is engaged in evidence-based practice initiatives on local and national levels, including development and implementation of supportive care guidelines for mucositis and antiemetic therapy.

Dr. Stricker has authored and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Oncology Nursing Forum, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Seminars in Oncology Nursing, and Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, as well as several book chapters on breast cancer and symptom management. She has also authored a number of lay publications, including those addressing supportive care and cancer survivorship issues, particularly for women with breast cancer, and she presents regularly to both lay and professional audiences on these topics.
